Yoga and mindfulness for kids

Welcome to EMPOWER yoga + mindfulness for kids! EMPOWER mindful movement offers yoga for youth, families and school communities. We support the growth of youth emotionally, socially, and physically - offering life skills. Our goal is to EMPOWER the community with simple tools so they can help themselves. By supporting the whole system, we can make sustainable changes for greater peace and joy, now and for future generations.

Yoga for kids and families

EMPOWER exists to support youth and communities to find accessible ways to bring greater peace, balance and joy to our lives. As a result of being constantly on the go and living in a world of over-stimulation, more youth and adults struggle with anxiety.

Yoga and mindfulness for kids clearly offers a simple solution. Our EMPOWER mindful movement programs offer accessible tools  to balance our minds, bodies and souls. We do this through exploring self-awareness and the science behind how our bodies and emotions work. As a result, we can better understand ourselves and others and practice empathy. In addition, we work with the breath, movement, group, and creative aspects. This offers us healthy tools for greater resilience and to manage challenging situations. These tools also help children to improve focus, get better rest, gain greater confidence, and experience more joy every day!

Children are naturally drawn to the simple practices of yoga and mindfulness. Ultimately, these tools become foundations for healthy coping skills for the rest of their lives. Watching children bring these practices into their daily lives and share it with their families brings us so much joy!

Yoga for Kids EMPOWER Founders

Alana Frogley

Alana is a Co-Founder of EMPOWER. She has worked in public education for nearly a decade, with a diverse range of students. In recent years, she noticed a gap in our public education system, as children did not know how to be at home in their bodies. This gap is what led Alana to pursue her yoga certifications.

Alana is a highly empathic teacher. She is a firm believer in the neuroplasticity of the brain, and in the resilience of the human spirit. Alana’s own personal transformation is proof of the healing power of yoga and mindfulness.

She received her 200hr Yoga Teacher certification from Sacred Seed Yoga, 95hr Certified Children’s Yoga from Semperviva, and Yoga for the Special Child®. Alana also holds her Bachelor of Child and Youth Care (BCYC), is a highly trained Behaviour Interventionist, and has been working in special education for over 10 years. Alana is passionate about developing programs that empower the authentic self, fostering a lifelong sense of wonder and true belonging in the world.

Katie Keating

Katie is a Co-Founder of EMPOWER and founded Studio 202 to bring inspiration to the community through movement, meditation, breath & art. Sharing yoga and mindfulness practices with children and families is close to her heart, as her mother taught her  meditation tools as a child. As such, Katie understands the power of these simple tools to support greater self-awareness, resilience, and for healing.

She encourages others to feel within, in order to be more present and loving with ourselves and others. Her classes are based on having fun with movement, while connecting to the breath to nourish the mind, body, and soul. Katie combines her joy of over 20 years of coaching, instructional design, studying Waldorf and other pedagogies to program design.

Katie holds her 200Hrs and Yin Yoga from Karma Teachers, Rainbow Kids Yoga, Braindance, Khalsa Way Prenatal Kundalini, Craniosacral and Somatic Healing certifications, among others. See here for full bio.
